Programs:
Larimer County Dept. of Human Services - Food/Medical/Financial Assistance

The Larimer County Department of Human Services has a number of programs to provide assistance for food, medical, and financial needs. Programs include the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP or Food Stamps), Health First Colorado (Medicaid), Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP), Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP), Aid to the Needy Disabled (AND), and others.

Many of these programs require an application to determine eligibility for benefits. For information about programs for low-income residents, please go to www.larimer.org/humanservices/public-benefits. Or call the Benefits Information Center at (970) 498-6300.

Larimer County Dept. of Human Services - Child Support Program

Many children and custodial parents face financial difficulties because non-custodial parents neglect the responsibility to provide support for their children. Child Support assists in establishing legal paternity and initiating or modifying child support orders. Contact Child Support staff at (970) 498-7600.

Larimer County Dept. of Human Services - Child Protection Services

Child Protection Services provides 24-hour assistance/response to allegations of child abuse and neglect. Referrals can be made by law enforcement, schools, medical professionals, or anyone who feels that a situation warrants investigation. Each referral is screened and may be investigated by a visit or phone interview to determine appropriate followup. To report child abuse or neglect, the Child Abuse Hotline is available 24/7 at (970) 498-6990, or call 1-844-CO-4-KIDS.

Larimer County Dept. of Human Services - Foster Care/Kinship Care

Foster care/kinship care is designed to provide temporary care, supervision, and support to children ages 0-18 who cannot live at home because of abuse or neglect. While foster parents are not related to the children, kinship providers are often relatives or are friends who are close to the child and considered family. This program provides recruitment, training, certification, and other services for care providers. Caseworkers work closely with foster parents/kinship caregivers. The children are covered by Medicaid, and foster parents receive financial support to help cover additional costs. For more information on becoming a foster parent, call (970) 498-6595.

The Office on Aging is also an ADRC (Aging & Disability Resource Center), which helps sort through option for long-term care services and supports, and serves clients 18+ with a disability or anyone age 60+. Please call (970) 498-7750.
