I take a systems approach that includes care and attention to both the external and internal world of the individual, couple, or family. Sometimes shame, sadness, anxiety, and other more vulnerable feelings are shoved down deep only to surge up, spilling over when least expected. Our inner critic and anger can be the most vocal and powerful influencers, which are worn like shields and seep into our interactions with the people we care for most.
If we spend time trying to understand these feelings, we find that they are not only powerful, but at some point in your life were necessary to your survival. We honor these feelings and, by honoring them, allow them to take up less space—allowing room for your innate wisdom to take care of you and all your feelings in the way only you can. A better understanding and embracing of one’s self allows for compassion, self-respect, and the unconditional love toward yourself that you deserve.
