I help people hurting from depression and/or anxiety move past these feelings to develop the fulfilling lives they deserve using evidence-based practices. The main type of therapy we use at Evolve Counseling Services is called cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). This is a fancy way of saying we are going to take a look at what you are telling yourself and change unhelpful thoughts that drive negative feelings. Albert Einstein had a nice way of putting it: “The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking.” As a part of CBT, we will also take a look at what you do, your behaviors, to see if there is anything you could be doing differently to improve your feelings. To complement CBT, we also incorporate dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) into sessions. This approach relies on a variety of techniques to help manage intense emotion and provide control in times of distress.
