Kathleen McNamara, PhD, PLLC

I specialize in evaluation and intervention services with separating and divorcing parents, as well as adults, children, and families who are dealing with conflict, loss, and adjustment to life changes. I assist parents, children, and teens in working through the emotional impact of family transitions and trauma. I help parents with parenting and coparenting skills in high-conflict situations and children and adolescents to develop healthy coping skills during and after divorce. I offer family therapy when a child or children resists or refuses contact with a parent and the aim is to repair and rebuild damaged relationships or adjust to the loss.

I also work with families who are dealing with a wide range of issues and problems that commonly occur in families, such as coping with a parent's mental health condition, substance misuse, strains and conflicts in parent-child relationships, and managing children's behavioral, emotional, and identity issues in a developmentally appropriate and healthy manner. Finally, I work with parents who are recovering from abusive relationships to move forward with their lives, maintain appropriate boundaries with their former spouse or partner, and learn the skills of functional parallel coparenting.
