Rachel Lucas Counseling, LLC

Rachel works with individuals from diverse backgrounds, economic situations and identities, providing primarily somatic and mindfulness-based individual and group counseling services related to personal growth, life transitions, sense of self and identity development, relationship difficulties, depressed and/or anxious states, substance use/abuse, chronic stress and its impacts on health/well-being, and specializing in healing from trauma/PTSD and burnout.

Rachel strives to provide an inclusive, affirming, trauma-informed and strengths-based treatment approach rooted in mindfulness, neurobiology, polyvagal theory, somatic experiencing (body-based) and attachment theory in order to provide individualized treatment to meet each client’s unique needs, honoring their lived experience. This is paired with client-centered, relational, holistic, and integrative therapeutic modalities, which may include elements of psychoeducation, interpersonal processing, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and Somatic Experiencing or other somatic (body-based) psychotherapies as well as other non-traditional, anti-oppressive, and liberatory approaches.

Rachel is also a registered yoga teacher and has been trained in Circlework facilitation. Her approach is very down to earth and collaborative, centered around prioritizing client autonomy, care and therapeutic fit over traditional, often limiting standard counseling approaches and practices.
