Shelly Annameier Therapy, LLC

Hello, and welcome! I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist in Fort Collins, Colorado. First and foremost: every part of you is welcomed in this space. I operate from a systems, racial justice, and Health at Every Size lens. Much of my practice and specialized training revolves around restoring relationships, and finding connection to self, to community, and to the natural world—all of which have been so important on my own self-discovery journey.

Why do I do this work? As someone who used to identify as a people-pleaser and peace-keeper, I was convinced that in order to maintain relationships and be liked I had to put the needs of others in front of my own. At the heart of it was a fear of being abandoned—and though I didn't realize it at the time, I was abandoning myself, slowly eroding my self-worth and self-trust. Learning about my attachment style, practicing mindfulness and self-compassion, and digging in to Intuitive Eating have completely changed my life in ways I never thought possible.

The work we do together will help you build compassionate awareness of your habits, beliefs, and biases that keep you stuck. In couples work, this looks like becoming more aware of the ways in which you and your partner's individual life stories impact the way you show up (or don't show up) for each other. This awareness leads to actionable change that helps improve your relationships—with yourself and your loved one. Through this work, I'll provide you with intentional and practical skills that you can use in your daily life. I'd love to chat with you and see if we might be a good fit to work together.
