Hope for the Journey Counseling Center

You are a gem! You are a uniquely created human whose life has a purpose in this world that no one else can bring to existence as you do. I believe that my role as a therapist is to bring an attuned, non-judgmental, and humble presence to our counseling work. Together, we will find your path to unburdening what is not yours to carry and setting free the image of the living God that is already present in you.

This quote from Henri Nouwen expresses it well: "When we become aware that we do not have to escape our pains, but that we can mobilize them into a common search for life, those very pains are transformed from expressions of despair into signs of hope." (From his book The Wounded Healer.)

I believe that people grow and change when we have a safe space to face our fears, shame, and glory. Also, I am a very practical individual. Clients have expressed appreciation for greater understanding offered about trauma, attachment, how our nervous systems work, communication skills, and new strategies to deal with life's challenges. At the same time, I love bringing metaphors, art, movement, and laughter into conversations with clients.

The therapeutic approaches I use include EMDR, IFS/parts work, art in therapy, somatic therapy, safe and sound protocol (SSP). I'm also am LPCC clinical supervisor and offer individual and group supervision.

I am currently taking new clients only for adjunctive EMDR therapy, Safe and Sound Protocol, LPCC supervision, and art journaling classes. However, Hope for the Journey has openings with the other therapists at our practice. Please call 970-541-9066 to schedule an appointment.
